BLANQUEFORT, France (Reuters) - Car maker Ford will retain 1,000 jobs at a plant in southwest France after striking a deal on Friday with local authorities to share the burden of new investments needed to keep the factory operating. Under the deal, Ford is to invest 125 million euros ($162 million) and local authorities 12.5 million to produce a next-generation gearbox for compact cars in Europe, in exchange for guarantees to retain workers for five years. ...
