If you re looking to travel the mythical Highway 1 from South (San Diego) to North (San Francisco) across California ... i suggest you look seriously at this fare from Rochester NY (easily accessible from Ottawa or Toronto!)
$345 for a departure from ROC to SAN and then from SFO to ROC in October/November/December!
Also you can fly to SAN for just 295$ R/T
I haven't seen any price this cheap to California from Upstate NY in a while ...
