This is what Aeroplan is offering right now. Since you are able to purchase Gift Cards at Air Canada and no where on the fine print do I see that you can't buy GCs, it only says you have to spend $100 with Air Canada. This mean you can buy a $100 exactly in Gift Card and get $100 credit back on your credit card.
I haven't tried but you might be able to spend $100 on a gift card and receive $100 credit back. The gift card can be used anytime and have no expiration date.

Receive a $100 credit on your credit card statement when you use your TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card to make a minimum $100 Air Canada purchase.
