The Best Deals On Backpacks For Kids, Teens & Adults For Back To School

Yesterday I told you about the hottest deals on preschool backpacks. Today I’ll let you know where you can score the best prices on backpacks for older kids for back to school. Obviously there is quite a difference between what a preschooler needs from what a kid in grade six needs backpack-wise, plus no reputable 11-year-old will carry around a 3D doggie.

When kids get into grade one, what they have to carry home gets a little more. They usually have an agenda, library books, their lunch, plus various other accompaniments to take along to school. At this age, they are still pretty rough on their stuff, flinging their bag across the school yard to get into that impromptu game of soccer as quickly as they can. This means they need durability and most of the grade school kids I know want a cool bag, that isn’t too cutesy.

Budget Pack

If you don’t care about the name brand and just want something affordable, I found a sweet deal at Sears on a YakPak backpack in purple. Regularly $29.99, you’ll get it for $13.49. It looks like the perfect size for kids in the younger grades.

Simple but Name Brand

Something simple, but not too heavy would be like this Gap basic nylon backpack. Regularly $54.95, it is on sale for $31.99. But, The Gap has a fantastic coupon code out right now that will get you an additional 35% off everything using GAPEXTRA. That brings this backpack down to only $20.79.

For the Teens

As I mentioned yesterday, kids should have bags that are unique from everyone else, although grade school kids would want diversity for a different reason. Rather than being able to find their bag, they want their own style (although not too different!). Shopping in the U.S. helps ensure that your child has the only backpack of that type at their school. L.L. Bean is a U.S. store that ships to Canada for free. You still have duties at checkout, but I find when charged at checkout you pay less than you would in taxes in Canada. Right now, they’ve got 25% off deluxe bookpacks. These are nice looking bags for a mature kid who doesn’t want cutesy. Regularly $39.95, they are now $29.96. What I love is that you can also add a monogram for only $8. I think this is my choice for my boys!

Another cool American option is the store Roxy. They also have free shipping to Canada. Right now they’ve also got an awesome promotion, offering an extra 30% off already on sale backpacks with the coupon code BACKPACK30. For the girls who like pretty but functional, this Charger backpack is perfect. Regularly $49.50, it is on sale for $29.99 but comes down to $20.99 with your free shipping. Quiksilver and DC Shoes also have this promotion on if you are looking for something more skater or snow/surf style.

Adult

If you want to splurge, but still want a deal and want to look very stylish in high school, college or university, Matt and Nat could be the place to shop. They have some gorgeous backpacks that won’t make you look like a school child, like this Peltola in poppy. I love how beautiful this bag looks as it isn’t just for function. Regularly $150, it is on sale for $105.

Check back later this week for a roundup of the best deals on lunch supplies. If you are anything like me, you’ve been agonizing over what to get! I’ll give you the lowdown on the hottest products and the best deals on them.
