On Tuesday when I went to pick up the kids from their first day of school, a nice black cloud opened up and drenched me just as the kids were coming out of the school. It reminded me that summer is over and that the kids are going to need some rain boots. I don’t like to spend a ton on rain boots as they only wear them on rainy days and they grow out of them before they get their use. I love Sportchek’s deal today on Firefly kids rain boots. There is a pair for girls and a pair for boys and both were $29.99 and are now $19.99. While that is not a huge discount, that is the best price I’ve seen for lined rain boots anywhere. Plus, Sportchek has free shipping with no minimum on right now. Even if you wanted the cheap boots from Walmart (all of which are actually sold out!), you’d have to pay for shipping.
I was ready to drop my 20 bucks down on these boots even before I knew they were lined with a cozy, furry lining. This ups the value because now I know the kids can wear these up until November and then again in March and their feet won’t freeze in the around 5 degree temps.Having three boys, I was of course more interested in the Freddy boots. I love that these have no characters on them and are just a solid black with the green trim. I also love the drawstring at the top, which will keep in the extra warmth and keep the rain out. My boys have no qualms splashing in puddles, especially when others are standing near! The tread also looks great on these, so they won’t do a header in those slippery puddles.
As for the girls, the Foxy boots are really quite stylish. With a pink, plaid-looking pattern and black foot, these are pretty and practical. These boots seriously rival Hunter boots without the gigantic price tag.
While these aren’t name brand boots, do your kids really need those for playing in the rain? If they do, you are going to pay a minimum of $35 from a place like ShoeMe. Like I said, Walmart’s rain boots are almost all sold out online, with the in-stock pairs being around $15, not lined, ugly and you’ll pay for shipping. Your choice!
